N.C. GOP Race for Party Chairman dirty, despicable
In the wake November’s shocking defeat, the race for North Carolina’s Republican Party Chairman had turned into a mud-slinging contest marked by accusations of homosexuality, a lawsuit, and admittance of an extramarital affair. Bill Knight, Orange County’s GOP Chairman exclaimed that it could be “the most foul and corrupt campaign in my 48 years in politics.”
In the wake of losing the 2008 Presidential, Gubernatorial, and Senate races, the state Republican Party seems more intent on knocking itself instead of its true opponents in the Democratic Party. Said one of the candidates, former Raleigh Mayor Tom Fetzer: “Too many Republicans are interested in knocking Republicans over.”
