Cheney, Palin Continue to Beat Dead Horses
Since his ousting from office, former Vice President Dick Cheney has emerged as one of the Republican Party’s most outspoken members. According to Cheney, reverses in Bush Administration counter-terrorism measures have weakened America’s defense against an attack.
In a recent interview on Fox News, Cheney called for an open debate on the treatment of detained terror suspects, taking care to mention the Bush Administration’s innocence in the use of torture on prisoners. Cheney strengthened his claim by asserting that the administration did not break any laws.
Meanwhile, former President George W. Bush has stayed far away from politics since his term expired in January. Bush informed MSNBC that he had “spoken to Cheney, but had not coordinated on his message.”
Democrats have welcomed Cheney’s rise to prominence. In a White House press conference, Robert Gibbs is seen joking about Cheney’s decision to support conservative radio personality Rush Limbaugh over former Secretary of State Colin Powell.
Some Republicans, however, are not thrilled with Cheney’s public appearances. Some argue that his continued presence in the media has revealed the fault line developing within the Republican Party, and his insistence on remaining in the spotlight makes it harder for the party to regroup and develop a new plan of attack. Former U.S. Representative Tom Davis (R-VA) said to MSNBC in an interview: “Right now we are at the lowest level of approval that we have had in a generation. So we need to attract converts; we don’t need to chase out heretics.”
Meanwhile, Governor Sarah Palin has made it back into the news after she released a statement of support for Miss California. In the statement she calls the “liberal onslaught of malicious attacks” unfair, pointing out that President Obama, himself, believes that marriage is between a man and a woman. She concluded her statement with praise for Donald Trump. Again, it is unlikely that Democrats mind this sort of publicity.

MSNBC, the tower of truth in the media while their lips are neatly sewn to Obama’s backside. Bush, unlike many ex-presidents is enjoying his time as an ex-limelight figure…it’s ashamed that Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton are not so-inclined. Democrats, republicans, spotlights…is there a difference…nope, they’re all politicians.
